S. C. Times Office. Monday Evening. Messrs Jonas, Hart and Wildie report for week ending August 14 : Fat Cattle—ln good supply. We sold in Timaru 11 head at £8 15s, and at AYaimate on Tuesday 10 head at £6 15s, averaging 25s per lOOlbs for jn’ime, and 20s to 22s (Jd for medium.

Store Cattle.—Demand brisk. AYe quote steers and heifers, two to three years, from £4 17a 6d to £5 15s; do do, one to two years, £2 15s to £4 15s. Cows in milk and near calving are very saleable, and are bringing from £7 to £ll 10s. Sheep—ln good active demand. We sold during the week 300 cross-bred ewes in lamb at 13s 9d, and could place an unlimited number of sheep at good rates. Horses —There is a slightly improved demand for good staunch heavy draughts. AVc quote staunch heavy draughts at from £42 to £SO; medium do. do., from £24 to £3O ; light do. do., from £ls to £22 ; hacks and light harness horses, from £7 to £23, according to description. Farm produce and Miscellaneous Goods. —Potatoes, £2 10s to £3 per ton ; onions, Id per lb ; hour, £0 per ton ; bran, £3 10s per ton ; cheese i.kl to 5d per lb; bacon, pigs in the carcase, at from 4ld to 5d per lb; fowls, 3s (id to 4s per couple; geese, 4s Cel each.

Messrs Maclean and Stewart report for the past fortnight:— Horses.—The entries at our yards on Saturday were numerous and a satisfactory busines was done. AYe sold several firstclass draughts for Mr R. B. Sibly and others at from £42 to £52. AYe quote medium and light draughts, £22 to £29 and hacks, £6 to £l4.

Cattle. —In good demand, our entries at the yards on Thumday were 63 head, which were diposed of as follows ; —4 cows at £7 each ; 5 heifers at £3 10s ; 2 heifers at £4 os ; 2 yearlings at £2 10s ; 7 steers and heifers at £3 ; 1 cow at £lO 10s ; 1 cow at £6 5s ; 2 heifers at £4 10s ; 12 heifers at £7 ; 5 steers and heifers, at £3 10s ; 4 steers at £4 5s ; 7 steers and heifers at £2 10s ; 7 steers and heifers, at £4 ; 4 cows at £4.

Sheep.—Stores arc scarce. AYe sold at the yards 200 head mixed cross-breds at 9s Gd. Fat sheep are steadily rising in price, and we have placed several lots at from 15s to 16s. Wool and Skins.—AVc sold about 400 country skins at the following prices:— Cross-breds, 2s to Is ; merinos. Is 8d to 3s.

Messrs William Collins and Co. report holding their regular weekly market and sale by auction on Saturday: —The attendance was large, and all lines submitted to the hammer were in good demand. AYe quote—Derwent potatoes, 10s to 42s 6d per ton; early seed, 40s to 45s per _ ton; farmers’ flour, £8 10s per ton ; millers’, £lO per ton; bran, 50s; sharps, 75s per ton; onions, £7 per ton; butter in milk tins (a new way of sending into market), 3d per lb; honey, in kegs weighing 2 cwt, 2f d per lb. We may hero re mark, if farmers send their produce to market in unsaleable packages they cannot expect to obtain full value for it. Carcase pork, 2sd to 41 d per lb. according to size and quality; hams and bacon, none offering ; fowls, 2s (id to 3s (id per pair ; ducks none offering; geese, is 6d each ; turkeys, 4s to 5s each ; Hobart Town apples, 8s to 10s per case ; Tasmanian jam 6s per doz.; boxes tea ex steamer and Brisbane, 18s to 19s; household soap, 15s per cwt; No 3 Company's sugar’ 42s per cwt, Household furniture, drapery, boots, Ac, were quitted during the day at prices equal to vendors reserves, Wellington, August 14. Messrs Leary and Campbell report;—At their ordinary market sales they sold oranges at 8s to 9s; Nelson apples, 8s to 10s ; chick wheat, 2s 9d ; fresh butter, lOd ; eggs, Is 4d; cheese, 5d to 6d; Stilton shaped cheese, 7d ; hams and bacon remain quite unsaleable ; onions, £6 ; potatoes, £2 15s.
