THE ABUSIVE MORMON.
Mormon Elder Batt of Dunedin has a happy method of retorting on unbelieving carrespoudeuts by calling them fools and idiots. Regarding John T. Lunnon who has been giving Mormon profligacy and female slavery a slight showing up the Elder writes thus to the “Dunedin Star”: —It is true there is such a person as John T. Lunnon. But what of his true character P Everyone who is a little acquainted with him will readily come to the conclusion that he is half insane—it is a fact that insanity exists in his family—and if John T. Lunnon has written the letters in question he will soon bo that himself. I deny that the elders ever told him an untruth. They did, however, tell him that with the spirit he had he could never stand in the church, and they called him to repentance, or slay in New Zealand. But, as it general happens, sir, there was a woman at the bottom of it. A line young woman of the saints was going to Utah, and he thought he could win her affections ; but he failed, and hence his lies. Concerning the ciders getting his sister away, the fool left £2J to pay her passage. She is ashamed of his conduct. There will bo traitors, but Mormonism will live and prosper and fill the whole earth, or God never spoke to Joseph Smith—the great prophet of this genera ; lion.—l an etc.,
