S. C. Times Office. Saturday Evening, The grain market continues without much alteration. During the past week a slightly better tone has prevailed, and prices arc beginning to exhibit an upward tendency. Wheat is in fair demand for local consumption and oats are enquired for both for export and feeding. Barley remains extremely dull, the demand for this kind of grain being purely speculate. We quote as followswheat, prime milling, 3s 4d to 3s 6d ; medium, 2s 9d to 3s 2d. Barley, 2s 3d to 2s Cd. Oats, Ito Is 6d. Christchurch, July 30. The healthier tone lately prevailing has been maintained during the past week, although business at the same time has been rather quiet. Wheat—An improved feeling has lately been slowly but surely manifesting itself, and values of most classes have advanced. Milling is quoted at 3s to 3s Bd, and for first-class parcels 3s lOd to 3s lid. The demand for seed samples has been moderately active, and sales of small lots have been made at 4s 2d to 4s (id according to quality. Oats —The demand for milling oats continues brisk, and parcels of this kind are saleable at Is Gd. Good stout for feed command 1 s 4d to Is 5d ; lower grades are quoted at Is Id to Is 2d Barley—The market for this grain is unaltered, and quotations remain at 2s Gd to 2s 8d for good malting. Potatoes—The value of these continue at 22s Gd to 255, with only an ordinary demand. Dairy Produce— Butter, Old to lOd ; cheese, 4d to 41d ; hams and bacon, Old. Mutton is quoted at a slight drop in prices, 2}d per lb. Beef is in good demand owing to low supplies—30s per 1001 b for prime quality. Pigs are also in keen demand.

Oats are in brisk enquiry. Prime milling at Is (id per bushel; good heavy feed, Is od. Barley continues quite neglected. Potatoes £2 5s to £3 7s; grass hay, £2 10s ; oaten hay, £3 ; straw, £3 ;■ chaff, £3 ; bran, £3 5s ; pollard, £4 ; flour, £0 10s to £10; oatmeal, £0; pearl barley, £lB ; onions, 7d ; cheese, sd; bacon, rolled, Ud ; hams, lOd; sides bacon, 0.4(1. Cattle-Fat bullocks range from £(1 12s to £ll 7s (id, and cows from £3 15s to £lO 12s (id. At the market on Wednesday, 3814 sheep were penned. Merinos were sold at from 7s !fd to 11s yd, and crossbreds at from 11s 9d to 20s 9d per head. SHAPE MARKET. Auckland, July 30. Oats are plentiful and quoted at Is lOd to 2s 2d. Maize, 3s 6d per bushel; Sydney and Fijian maize scarce. Market quotations of oatmeal are nominally £ll to £ll 10s.
