The severest shock of earthquake felt for years was experienced a bout ].3G a.m. ibis morning, lasting for 30 seconds, and travelling from a southerly to a northerly direction. Another shock, less severe, occurred 15 minutes afterwards. No damage was done. An old "Wellington resident on a visit here, says it was the severest shock ho has felt for the last 20 years. At the further hearing of the case against certain seamen tor ret using duly on board the Anna Bell, the Besidont Magistrate said the evidence of the persons who had held surveys on the vessel was so eoiillicling that lie considered it his duty to request the Minister of Marine to order an ollicial survey of the vessel. At the request ol the solicitor for the seamen, the ship's articles were ordered to be retained, so as to prevent the Annabella, which is now loaded, from putting to sea. Wreck of the Steamer Ino.
