POST AND TELEGRAPH OFFICES.
The new Post and Telegraph offices arc rapidly approaching completion, and will soon be ready for being occupied. The structure is one of the iinost of the kind in the colony. The design gracefully combines the utilitarian with the ornamental. There is nothing superllous, and the appearance of the building, with its carved doors and wiuows, neatly embellished architraves and pilasters, is indicative of strength united with elcgauce. The material has already been described. The walls are of brick and concrete, and the interior is finished with ornamental mouldings in wood and plaster. Although situated in a hollow the structure, owing to its height, has a com* msnding appearance, anil the cluck tower will be visible from almost any part of Timaru. As regards accommodation it is likely to prove crj mil to the requirements of this 'centre, for many years even should the town progress with the rapidity predicted by its most sanguine prophets. Besides providing ample scope for the telegraph, post office and savings bank offices, it will afford a permanent abiding place to the 8. 0. Education Board who are to be located on the second lloor.
