The following appeared in our town edition of last night) POENDKEEPEK. W. Butterwortb was reappointed poudnkeeper and instructed to post notices of impoundings at the Town Hall as well as at the pound, as required by the new by-laws. ■WORKS COMMITTEE. The import of the Works Committee was read, and after some discussion adopted. PETITION. A petition was read from a number of residents in E street, drawing the attention of the Council to the dangerous and impassable state of the street, and requesting that the defects alluded to should be remedied without delay. After a good deal of discussion it was resolved —“That the petition of George Robins and others re the state of E Street be received, and the Works Committee be requested to report upon the same, at the next ordinary meeting of Council.” WAT ER W 01! K S I) EliK N T CUES. It was resolved on the motion of Cr. Ross, seconded by Cr. Jackson — “ That the Finance Committee be authorised to deposit the money to arrive from Waterworks debentures with the Rank of New Zealand, on deposit, at interest for the period of 3, G, 9, and 12 months.” TENDERS. WATERWORKS ENOIXEEK. It was resolved to hold a apccial meeting on Monday next for the purpose of opening tenders for the appointment of waterworks engineer to the Council, and the -Mayor said lie (rusted (here would be a full attendance of councillors on the occasion. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £27 12s were passed for payment and the meeting adjourned.
