Sad Brews for Depositors. Mkuiouunk, July 17. The Banks have reduced interest on deposits to I per cent. Ministers Denounced 1 Brisbane, July IS. A large public meeting held last night carried a resolution condemning the proposed new direct mail contract between England and Queensland, via Torres Straits, which the Premier arranged for whilst in England. The meeting also passed a vote of want of confidence in the Ministry in consequence of its having opposed the Bill recently carried in the Legislative Assembly for the appointment of a committee to enquire into the charges brought against the Premier and Colonial Secretary., in Mr Hcmman’s petition to the House.
