At Samoa 300 warriors, from Oana and Ahia, came in and gave their allegiance to Matitoa, A rupture was nearly caused by a party of Matitoa’s followers storming several canoes full of visitors, but the outrage was smoothed over.
The Samoan “ Times” has apologised to Capt. lirucc for saying that 11..M.3 Cormorant has conveyed from place to place, as honored guests, four recently liberated felons. It has also apologised or the disrespectful words respecting the King, and for the strictures on Mr fDawson, the Consul.
The Fiji ‘‘Times” says the new mission ship John Hunt, purchased to replace the John Wesley which was dismantled in a hurricane, is expected daily. The Mission planted by Bishop Selwyn, at Levuka, is prospering. The Colonial Sugar Company have
resolved to erect a yOO-ton mill in no matter what arrangement is mat. with the planters, who demur about agreeing to give a guarantee to supply the mill with sugar for ten years.
