A CHILD ATTACKED BY A SOW.

A horrible incident occurred at Saltwater Creek yesterday. A little child two years of age, a sou of Mr Wilson’s residing near the Sportsman’s Arms Hotel, was attacked by a sow, and sustained terrible injuries. The child was playing around the house when attacked, and being butted by the savage animal fell down and was bitten and gored in a fearful manner. An elder child ran out of the house to the assistance of the one attacked, on hearing its screams, and in attempting to drive away the sow, also got severely bitten in the hand, but was able to go at once to the Hospital and summon Dr Hogg who caused the child to be immediately removed. On it admission to the Hospital the doctor found several lacerated wounds about the child’s head, one of them being four inches in length. There were also wounds on the back and thigh, and two lingers of the left hand were completely bitten through and hanging by the skin. These lingers Dr Hogg at once amputated. At enquiry at the Hospital this morning, we were informed that the child had been in great pain during the night, and the doctor had been called up to attend to it. It is now going on as favorably as can be expected, but the result of the injuries it has sustained, it is impossible us yet to forsee.
