LEVELS ROAD BOARD.
SECOND EDITION
The usual monthly meeting of this Board was held yesterday. Present — Messrs Bcswick (Chairman), Macintosh, Mcc, and Shaw. coiui estonhence. The Chairman read several telegrams received from and sent to Mr Turnbull, M.11.R., in reference to Mr Blackett’s report and also r<; county separation. A telegram was read from Mr Moody vc Slacks road and Munro’s road. The following letters were read : From the Ceraklinc County Council, asking for returns showing the value of rateable properties in Levels Biding for the year ending March 31, 1873 ; also what claim has been made by the Colonial Treasurer for Hospital and Charitable aid. From Mr Edward Acton, calling the Board’s attention to the state of the drains and cesspools in the township of Pleasant Point, and stating that they were injurious to health. The matter was referred to the Inspector of nuisances, to take immediate legal proceedings if necessary. From Mr E. W. Eichbaum, applying for the formation of continuation of Doe street. Eesolved —“ That the work be done as soon as the road is dedicated.” From Messrs Milos, Archer and Co., informing the Board that they had been appointed agents for White’s patent glazed pipes and enclosing price lists. From Daniel Sullivan, applying to have the road metalled from Mr Shicrs to liural section 183/G. Tenders were ordered to be called for the work. From Mr W, J. Newton, applying to have a drain made and road shingled.
Work ordered to be done. From Mr A. W. Wright, applying to have a portion of road running through sections 15S00 and 15547 metalled. Work ordered to be done. From Mr G-raham and others, applying to hare Olipua road, from Cabot's bridge to Holland's crossing metalled. Tenders were ordered to bo called for the work. From Mr Campbell and others, complaining of a nuisance caused by the burial of a horse and cow in the nighborhood of complainants. He f erred to Inspector of (Nuisances. OVEUSUKu's I!KI’oKT. • The report of the Overseer was then read. The work applied for iu Mr Leggett’s application was ordered to he done, as also work on Brittain's road. It was resolved Unit discretionary power be given to the Overseer to stop contract No. H on the Wai-iti road if he thinks it necessary. The suggestion of the Overseer re contract No. Id, Otipua road was ordered to be carried out at bis discretion. The action of the Overseer re contract Xo. Id, Main South road, was approved of. Tcmb'rs were ordered to be called for the work on (Shear’s road. UKI’UTATIoX. A deputation, consisting of Messrs (Scaly, MeKerrow, and Langdon, waited upon (he Hoard in reference to the formation of the Wai-iti footpath without shingling.
It was resolved—" That tenders be called for the work/’ JiEDUCTION OF WAGES. It was resolved that the surface men’s wages be reduced one shilling per day. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £750 17s lid were passed for payment. Mr Kinuahan waited on the Board in reference to having Sullivan’s Flat road shingled. llosolvcd—" That tenders be called for the work.” Mr Devon waited on the Board, and applied to have the road past his place shingled. Deferred to Overseer. The Board then adjourned to Saturday, the 21th inst.
