ODDFELLOWS’ CELEBRATION.

Tlic half-yearly meeting of t lie MAT., 1.0.0. P., Ly 11 cl ton J) i strict, took place in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Timaru, on Saturdaju A largo number of delegates were present, and G.M. Bro. W. Leggot present. Some routine business having been transacted, the following degrees were conferred ;—P.V.G.’s, Bros Airey, Walkcy and Griffiths ; P.N.H.’s, Bros Grilliths and Coram ; after which a purple lecture was held and the degrees conferred on P.G.’s Bros Chapman, Coram, Vine, Watts, Leach and Marshall. About 100 members sat down to dinner in the evening, Bro J. Grilliths, N.G. presiding, and Dr Hammond occupying the Vice-chair. Bro Goldsmith, in responding to the toast of the “ HeaPh and Prosperity of the Timaru Lodge,” stated that the total receipts and balance of the sick fund for 1870 of the Lodge was £9Bl 10s lOd, and the expenditure under this head for the year, Lll2 4s 7d. The assets of the incidental fund at the end of the year were £2872 Is od, and the expenditure for the year £163 os Id, so that the financial condition of the Lodge was satisfactory. The number of members at the cud of the year was 101, but the uumber had considerably increased since. Other toasts were proposed and drank, and an agre^ableLfiycning was spent. ‘
