A REMARKABLE INTERMENT.
An interment of a somewhat remarkable character has just taken place at Woking Cemetery, under the superin* tendencj of a firm of Southampton undertakers. The body was that of Lieutenant Edgar Oliphaut Anstey, of the Ist Battalion 24th Regiment, wlio fell at Isandula on Jan. 15, 1879. The body remained unhurried on the battlefield, until the following Sept., when it was recovered by Captain Anstey, ICE. one of the deceased’s brothers, who
went out from England for that purpose. Identification was made by the teeth, the body otherwise being quite unrecognisable, a portion, of clothing and a boot which remained. It was brought to England some months ago, and has been under private cave at Southampton awaiting the arrival from abroad of Mr Wilfrid Anstey, of the 71st Highlanders, another brother who wished to attend the funeral. Lieutenant Anstey was only 28 years of age when he was killed. This is the onty ease in which a body lias been recovered from Isandula for interment in England or elsewhere than Zululand.
