ROYALTY IN A HUFF.

One of the series “ hones to he picked ” between Mr Gladstone and a very illustrious personage consists of the fact that he was not invited to the wedding of Prince Arthur. All iho notables of the Empire, save the exPrcmicr only, w 7 ere there, and w’hen people demand to know why, the answ'cr was indistinct. I noticed lately, however, that Mr and Mrs Gladstone were at a ball given by the Prince of Wales at Marlborough House, and I happen to know that they w r ent at some personal inconvenience. So it may he that after all “ bygones arc to be bygones.” Somewhat different are the cases of Mr Robert Lowe and Mr Bright. The latter, excused from kissing the Queen’s hand when he was made a Minister, has scarcely spoken in such a way since as to warrant his re-adrnission to the Administration, without that formality ; while it was to Mr Lowe that the Queen actually sent a direct reproof during the debate on the Empress Titles Bill. Men about town talk of these little incidents just now r . —“ Country Gentleman.”
