Captain Fraser, M.fi.C., tells the following good anecdote concerning sporting tactics’;—A colleague of his lately travelled with one of these bookmakers, -who became very communicative. The bookmaker told his colleague that duringtlie year he'had lost iiloOO. His colleague said “That is a large amount, how arc you going to make it up?” “Oh, wo have made it up, we bought a horse." “Oh. you bought a horse.-' “Yes.” “Then he won?” “ i\u, he lost,” replied the bookmaker.
