Saturday's “ Otago Daily Times” says : —The "rand competition between a]] comers in a 21-hours walk began last night in the Garrison Hal!, in the presence of several hundred people. Delaney at 2.1 d began to walk again, but O’Connor was'still off. At the finish of the walking match, the hall was crowded, Brookes of Dunedin, won, having walked lid miles in 21 hours, Swan, of Christchurch, second, witli 111; Malcolm, of Dunedin, third, with 11:3 miles. M‘Ewan, of Dunedin, retired at 100 miles, very much exhausted ; Drummond retired at 100 miles. Swan was pretty well played out, and Brookes was also done. Malcolm looked good for another 20 miles.
