LANDSLIP.

A landslip occurred a little to the south of Palmerston Paihvay station this morning, oeeasio’ned it is supposed by the recent heavy rains. The express train from Dunedin was consequently detained at Palmerston, which place it had not quitted at 3 p.m. A special train was put on here, and left at the usual hour (3.15 p.m) for Christchurch. The express is not expected in Timaru until 5 or 0 o’clock, and it is possible that it will not come to night. It will, in any ease, proceed no further than Timaru this evening.
