THE PEOPEETY ASSESSMENT ACT, 1870.” THE following SECTIONS of the “ Property Assessment Act,” are PUBLISHED for general information. J. :• PEEEEY, Commissioner. Government Offices, Wellington, 20th January, 1880. 18. Every company, including banking and insurance companies, carrying on business in New Zealand at the commencement, of this Act shall at all times be represented by a person residing in the colony ; and a place within the colony shall be appointed from time to time by every such company as aforesaid at which any notices or other instruments affecting the company under this Act may be served or delivered. (1.) Such person shall be called the “ Public Officer” of the company for the purposes of this Act, and shall be appointed as follows : (a.) In the case of a company having a local Board of Directors or Managers resident in the colony, within three months after the passing of this Act; (b.) In the case of a company not having such local Board as aforesaid within six. months after the passing of this Act. The office of Public Officer shall be kept constantly filled by tire making of fresh appoinments thereto from time to time as may be necessary. (2.) Every new company shall within three months after it shall commence or enter into business after the passing of this Act appoint a Public Officer, and name a place for delivery of notices as aforesaid. Every company failing or neglecting, within the time hereinbefore limited in that behalf, to appoint a Public Officer, or name a place at which notices or other instruments may be served or delivered as aforesaid, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding fifty pounds a day for every day alter the time aforesaid during which such neglect shall continue.
PUBLIC NOTICE. “PROPERTY ASSESSMENT ACT, 1870.” DISTRICT OF WAITAKI. IN accordance wiih section 00 of the above Act, the Property Tax Commissioner hereby gives public notice that the 00th day of June next is the time, and the Town of Tixnaru is the place, at which all persons in the District of Waitaki are required to furnish Statements of all Real and Personal Property belonging to them, in accordance with the said Act. Dated this 10th day of April, 1880. J. SPE UREY, Commissioner. N.B. — Forms of Statement will be forwarded to all persons as far practicable, but, as the duty of procuring such forms is cast upon the public, no person is excused from neglecting to provide himself therewith. Persons can obtain forms from the Assessors of the divisions in the above district.
