The natives are still showing - a tacit opposition to the road parties to the south of Stony river. They have erected several fences across the line of road at Xgakunmkn, and the Constabulary have in every instance pulled the fences down, but only to find them re-erected by the natives on the following day. _ It is impossible to toll what this opposition may lead to. The Hincmoa arrived from Wellington this morning, with the Native Minister. Immediately after landing Mr 13rycc proceeded to the camp at Ngakumuku. It is said that the unexpected visit of the Active Minister is in connection with the recent obstruction
by the natives to the road parties, in erecting fences across the road. The natives have shown much determination iu the matter. Some Europeans who have visited Tc Whiti say that he ha? expressed himself as pleased that-the Government have not put in prison the men who pulled down the fences.
