Malvern got his leg in some scoria stones, and the limb being fractured, an attempt was made to kill him with, an axe. The handle broke and the horse’s head and face were fearfully hacked. The horse remained writhing in agony for some time till a second axe was procured. Another Patal Accident. Richard Selby, third son of Mr Selby of Poplars, accidentally shot himself yesterday near Cambridge, while out pheasant shooting with I). M. Mosking of the Thames." The whole of the upper portion of his left cheek was blown away. Fatal Crunshot Accident. ■Wellington, May 25. It appears lliat the fatal accident to the man Gilchrist happened this way :
The deceased fired at a bird but missed it, and called to his friend to fire at it. ’ While the latter was making his way to fire, the gun exploded, and the contents entered deceased’s abdomen, killing him instantly. Silled by a Train. Dunedin, May 25. A man, name unknown, was killed at Anderson’s Bay railway crossing this morning. Warm for St. Crispin. The shop of Kobert Bacon, bootmaker, Port Chalmers, was burned down tiiis morning. It was insured in the Australian Alliance office for £3OO. ■
