[Reotek’s Agenct.j Religious Tolerance in Germany. Berlin, May 21. A Ministerial Bill has been intro* troduced in the Lower House of the German Parliament, for the revision of the now laws. The changes proposed will provide large concessions' to Catholics in Germany, and meet the views of the Vatican. A Peace Policy for Afghan. Calcutta, May 22. The Yicerory, in accordance with the views of the Liberal party, has been officially instiuctcd to close the campaign in Afghanistan with the leas possible delay. The speedy restoration of peace is, however, considered doubtful, owing to hostile tribes, still con* tinuing the fighting, which* although desultory, is not of a very serious nature. It is officially announced that Sir Barilo Frero has consentedto remain Governor and High Commissioner of Cape Colony, it being understood for the express purpose of assisting the proposed confederation. 5
