MR. J. FISHER AT WESTPORT.
• Tl]fl[[Hl [By Telegraph.] Westport, May 23. Mr Fisher addressed his constituents last night. He objected to Ministers notunfolding their policy previous to the meeting of Parliament. Such action was characteristic of the Hall party,
who sought to legislate by surprise. He thought the Property Tax would be repeated next session. He would support as a substitute a beer tax, au increase of the land tax to Id and would support the continuance of subsidies to the West Coast bodies or an equivalent substitute. He gave credit to Ministers for being good business men—the sort required ■in the present condition of the colony. He could not say what he would do next session, but he would always be found with the Liberals. Mr Fisher concluded his speech with some remarks on the great benefit of party politics. A vote of ■ thanks and confidence was carried unanimously.
