♦ S. C. Times Office, Saturday Evening. Large quantities of wheat are still arriving in town, and except for export there is little or no speculation. Prices are without material alteration. Wheat ranges from 2s 6d for inferior, to 3s 2d for prime samples. Oats are almost unsaleable, and quotations are nominally lOd to Is. Barley IB dull of sale at 2s 3d to 2s lOd. Mr W. Zeisler reports as follows*.— National Bank, 61s; Colonial Bank, 44s 6d *, National Insurance, 21s 6d, cum div ; Union Insurance, 16s ; Colonial Insurance, 6s 6d; Timaru Gas Shares, old issue, £5 17s 6d; ditto, now issue, £1 4s 6d. Good samples of milling wheat 3s lOd to 4s per bushel; fowls’ wheat, 3s to 3s 3d ; oats, Is 3d to Is 4d; malting barley, 3s lOd to 4s 3d per bushel; feed, 2s fid to 3s per bushel; potatoes, £2 10s ; old hay, £4 ; new oaten hay, £3 ; chaff, £3; straw. £2 ; bran, £3; pollard, £4; Hour, £lO 5s to £lO 10s, large sacks; oatmeal, £9 10s; pearl barley, £lB per ton ; onions, 7s per owt.; new cheese 5d per lb; bacon rolled, lOd; hams, Is ; Bides bacon, lid per lb ; prime beef, 22s Od to 25s per lOOlbs ; mutton, 2d per lb. Mr James O’Shea reports Flour, Adenide, low in stocks, sales nominal £ls to £ls 10s; Christchurch City Mills, in request, at £ll to £lllss, for bakers’ parcels; oatmeal, £ll 15s to £l2 5s ; sharps, 85s to 80s; bran, 70s to 80s ; oats, feed, Is lOd to 2s ; milling, no demand, except for crushing. 2s 2d to 2s 4d ; oatmal, Peter McGill’s, £ll 10s to £l2; barley, no sales; chickwheat in request, broken, 2s 9d to 3s; whole grain, 3s 6d to 3s 9d ; maize, 3s 3d to 3s Cd; potatoes, overstocked, at 50s to 52s Cd. Auckland, May 21. Business is quiet. Oats are plentiful, and the market just now is somewhat firmer, but no dependence can be placed on this as an indication for tho future. Wo have heard of large sales at from Is lOd to 2s. Another merchant reports that ho quitted good heavy short oats at from 2s to 2s 14d. Local potatoes average from £2lss to £3 ; some have been sold as high as £3 10a per ton. Canterbury potatoes are quoted at £3 15s to £4. Adelaide, May 21. Adelaide flour, £lO 5s to £lO 10s per ton market dull. Frieghts, 40s to4ls Bd.
