Christchurch, May 21.

The price of wheat remains at last week’s quotation of 3s Cd. The market, however, is not at all active, and no great eagerness is exhibited in operating. Chick wheat has been sold during the week in considerable quantity at 2s 3d to 2s 6d for low to medium, and for the better class np to 2s lOd has been given. Fair sales of bats are repotted, but at rates which do not show any improvement in values. Good feed is worth Is 2d to Is 3d, and best descriptions of heavy milling Is 4d to Is 4J. Potatoes have been sold largely since last report, at prices ranging between 25s and 27s 6d according to quality and place of delivery. Mutton, 2d per lb; beef, 17s 6d per lOOlbs, MELBOURNE PRODUCE MARKET. Messrs J. H. Clough and Co., under date 6Jay 6, Report ?. , , ; Wheat.—To-day wo place a small line of 48 bags suitable for seed at 4s 6Jd and our other sales were made at 4s 4£d. We quote inferior and faulty 2s 8d to 3s 3d, medium to good 3s lid to 4s 3d, milling and shipping lots 4s 4d to 4s od. Barley.—A very dull market has still to bfl reported, sales being difficult to effect, ond this is specially so in regard to mixed samples (unsuitable for malting) coming into competition with feeding grains, making them only worth feeding prices, vix., 2» 2d to 2s 6d. Oats.—A fair steady business continues to bo.done, and rates show little alteration. We quote faulty, Is 8d to Is 10; medium feed, Is lid to 2s 2d; best feed, 2s 2d to 2s 4Jd; Milling, 2s 4d to 2s 6d.
