This morming a two-roomed cottage, at South Invercargill, owned by Peter Dunn, and occupied by F. Hunter and famity, was burned down. The cottage was valued at about £IOO. Nearly all the furniture was destroyed. So far as known there were no insurances. Dunedin’s Contributions. Dunedin, May G. The Mayor of Dunedin forwards by to-days mail a bank draft to Dublin for £205, making Dunedin’s contributions to the Irish Relief Fund £IBOS. Princes Street Reserve. Mr Watt paid to the Natives interested the final payment of £4OOO, in respect of the Princes street reerve. Alleged Gambling. At the City Court William Couzens was fined 10s and costs for allowing gambling in his licensed house.
