A HINT TO ADVERTISERS.

A new developemcnt lias been imparted to the advertising art by an astute Berlin tradesman, named Michc, who has hit upon the happy expedient of combining announcements of family events fraught with thrilling domestic interest, with ardent and tempting recommendation of saleable wares. This ingenious innovator deals in comestibles, and would appear to bo in his private capacity a man of exceptional pith and perseverance, if we may judge him by his latest appeal to the public of the German capital, which wo copy from the “ Boerscn Zeitung,” It runs as follows :—“ Twins are conic to mo for the third time. This time a hoy and a girl. I entreat my friends and patrons to support me stoutly. Excellent butter well worth its price. Similarly, sausage and cheese. Berlin Fob. 2nd, 1880, Miche.” What a field is opened up to enterprising advertisers by this genial inspiration of the prolific cheesemonger ! Ere long, doubtless, bereaved butchers will exhort their customers to mitigate their woe by liberal purchases of “ prime cuts,” and poulterers about to marry will urge the imminent augmentation of their responsibilities upcu a sympathetic public as a motive for lavish investment in fowls and geese of surpassing quality and unprecedented cheapness. Births, deaths, and marriages will acquire a widely-extended interest for society at large when their notification shall become a vehicle for the announcement of cheap bargains in every conceivable descrijEion of commodity.
