An adjourned meeting of the newlyformed South Canterbury Millers’ and Bakers’ Association was held this afternoon at the Grosvcnor Hotel. It seems that on Sunday, Oct 12, Dr Lorimcr preached in his church a sermon which was greatly admired by his congregation, from Matt, xii., 0, “ In this place is One greater than the Temple.” It was discovered that the Trans-Atlantic divine had followed with remarkable fidelity one of Dr Parker’s discourses preached at the London Cit3 T Temple on Michaelmas Day of the previous 3'car. Soon afterwards copious extracts from the sermon were published in the Chicago “Daily News,” side by side with parallel extracts from the originals. The first Church Pastor, being interviewed by a reporter from that paper, attributed the resemblance to a “ pheneminal memory,” and said he “did not believe the scandal would hurt Dr Lorimer a bit.” Messrs Jonas, Hart, and Wildic will sell at their rooms, on Saturday, at 2 p.m., two Fowling Pieces. Messrs Collins and Co. will sell at their rooms, on Saturday, at 2 p.m., a Cottage and Quarter-acre Section.
