S. C. Times Office, Saturday Evening. Grain is beginning to come forward freely and the market has an easier tone, sellers and purchasers displaying an inclination to agree to terms. Prices arc well maintained and in wheat there is a slightly upward tendency. It is expected that a large quantity of grain will be shipped direct to the ’ London market this season. The Comadre, which has been chartered by the New Zealand Shipping Co., will probably arrive here next week for the purpose of loading for London. Mr W. Moody lias chartered vessels on behalf of exporters, and Messrs P. Cunningham and Co intend forwarding shipments, of grain direct from this port for the London Markets. First-class milling wheat is quoted at 3s (id to 3s 8d ; inferior 3s to 3s 3d. Oats dull of sale at Is to Is od. Malting barley 3s to 3s 3d according to sample. Auckland, March 19. Breadstuffs are unaltered, tendency weak Oats, are overstocked with heavy arrivals ; they are offered at Is 9d to Is lid. American bacon and hams are sold at 9d to Is. Potatoes, 60s. Our own correspondent writes: —1000 bushels of Black Tartarian oats were sold to-day at Is Od, delivered in Christchurch. The same price has been offered for (5000 bushels Canadian oats delivered here. Quotations of wheat to-day are 3s lOld to 3s lid, delivered atLyttelton. 1000 bushels barley, fair samples, were sold at 3s 3d. Good malting samples fetch 3s Od ; one buyer offered to give Is for a tip-top sample. Eye grass seed is beginning to move freely. A sale was made to-day, at 2s Od, delivered at Lyttelton.
