SUDDEN DEATH.

A man named Peter McGuinness died very suddenly on Monday last at South Eangitata. lie was riding on the top of a loaded dray, when he suddenly rolled off on to the ground, and almost immediately expired. An inquest was held at South Eangitata yesterday, before F. Guinness, Esq., Coroner, and a jury, when the above facts were elicited, and also the fact that deceased had been for a long time past in ill-health, and had been in the habit of consulting chemists instead of duly qualified medical men.

I)r. Hayes deposed to having made a post mortem examination. Death had resulted from rupture of the heart, the result of long-standing fatty degeneration of its tissue.

Ihe jury returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence.

I he deceased, who was 45 years of age, was a native of Ireland. He came

out to New Zealand some 15 years ago, and liad amassed some £2OOO during this time. He was unmarried, and had not a single relative in the colony.
