QUEEN’S HALL.

There was a crowded house last night to witness the “ Skating Carnival ” at the above hall, when the champion skaters appeared for the last time and Madame Taylor took a benefit. From before eight o’clock, and at intervals throughout the evening, up to about 11p.m., the amateurs, dressed in all kinds of eccentric fancy costumes, had the rink all to themselves. The scene was a most amusing one, and the characters represented were mined, comprising barristers in wig and gown, negro minstrels (ban jo in band), old maids, and gushing ballroom belles, while one youth sported a huge pair of donkey ears’ and a tail, and he certainly looked the character to perfection. The entertainment wasdiversilied by exhibitions of champion skating by Professor and -Madame Taylor, racing for prizes, and the making of conundrums on skating for which a special prize was offered. Mr Statham and Mr S.T. tSlansell (both dressed in character), played musical selections during the evening.
