Distance, 1 mile. RULES AND REGULATIONS. Nominations for the Timaru Cup, Living Handicap, S.C.J.C. Handicap. Hurdle Race, and Winter Oats Handicap to lie made to the Sccretaiy not later than Tuesday, Maich 23, at 8 p.m. Weights to he out Thursday, April 1. Acceptances, with sweep and general entries, up to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 5. All entries and acceptances must he in scaled covers, addressed to the Secretary, Grosvenor Hotel, Timaru, and contain entrance money, sweepstakes, qualiliction foe, description, age. and name of horse, and colors to lie worn by the jockey. Qualification fee to be enclosed with the nomination, or the nomination will he invalid. South Canterbury Jockey Club Rules will lie strictly adhered to. In Hurdle Races horses to qualify hy Jumping hurdle past judge’s box. The Club has adopted the Victoiian new scale of weight for age, No person to enter a horse unless lie is a subscriber of t'2 2s to the fund, and no person to nominate unless both owner and nominator he subscriber of the same amount. In the event of any person entering a mutest, the sura of -t'2 2s must be lodged with the Secretary before such protest is considered, this sum to bo forfeited to the funds should the Stcwaids consider the protest frivolous or vexatious. The decision of the Stewards to he final in all cases. Five per cent, will be deducted from the gross of all monies paid, in accordance with the programme, for expenses ; and when not otheiwisc specified, all entries and acceptances to go to the funds.
