After hearing much evidence, the stewards of the Poverty Bay Turf Club ai’rived at the conclusion that in regard to the malpractices at the late races, the trainer and jockey, Eolls, of Mania, also the rider of Little Wonder,

should be disqualified from riding on any course under their control. Harry Hastings, a bookmaker, being found guilty of malpractices, in regard to the County Stakes, it was decided that he should not be admitted in future to any grand stand or saddling paddock under their control. In consequence of the evidence given by Thompson, the rider of Sylvia, in exposing a swindling transaction, his disqualification will only extend to Aug. 18 next. -Public confidence in the district has been severely shaken in turf matters owing to the late disclosures.
