[Per “Tiiies” Special Wihe.l Exiles in Trouble. Auckland, Feb. 20.—The prejudice against the French Communists is so great that householders refuse to let houses to them. Employers of labor also look with suspicion on them, and refuse to employ even the political exiles. The Wellington Unemployed Wellington, Feb. 20. —A deputa* tion from the unemployed, waited on the Government, this morning, with re* fereuce to obtaining employment. The Ministers replied that the Government intended opening several roads, which were to be let in small contracts, and would afford employment for a large number of men. A Nut for the Sabbatarians. Christchurch, Feb. 20. At the Magistrate's Court, Mr Melfish gave j udgment in the cases for selling fruit on Sunday. He held that the English Act, under which the information was laid, was not in force here, and dismissed the informations. Rifle Tiring. Dunedin, Feb. 20.—Gunner Hendry of the Dunedin Naval Brigade, with 31 points takes the £5 prize in the district prizes. There w r ere 112 competitors. The Kaitangata Fund. The Kaitangata Fund Trustees distributed during the year £1404. There are four additional claimants on the fund, four of the widows having remarried.
