Distance, 1 mile. RULES AND REGULATIONS. Nominations for the Timaru Cup, Flying Handicap, S.C.J.C. Handicap, Hurdle Race, and Winter Oats Handicap to be made to the Secretary not later than Tuesday, March 23, at 8 p.m. Weights to be out Thursday, April 1. Acceptances, with sweep and general entries, up to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 5. All entries and acceptances must be in scaled covers, addressed to the Secretary, Grosvenor Hotel, Timaru, and contain entrance money, sweepstakes, qualiliction fee, description, age, and name of horse, and colors to be worn by the jockey. Qualification fee to be enclosed with the nomination, or the nomination will bo invalid. South Canterbury Jockey Club Rules will be strictly adhered to. In Hurdle Races horses to qualify by Jumping hurdle past judge's box. The Club has adopted the Victorian new scale of weight for age, No person to enter a horse unless he is a subscriber of £2 2s to the fund, and no person to nominate unless both owner and nominator be subscribers of the same amount. In the event of any person entering a protest, the sum of £2 2s must be lodged with the .Secretary before such protest is considered, this sum to be forfeited to the funds should the Stewards consider the protest frivolous or vexations. The decision of the Stewards to bo final in all cases. Five per cent, will be deducted from the gross of all monies paid, in accordance with the programme, for expenses ; and when not othciwi.se specified, all entries and acceptances to go to the funds.
