CAPE TOWN NEWS.
[l3vr Telegraph.] BLUFF, Feb. 10. The following items of Cape News were received by the Te Anau : The arrest of Pretorius and Bok (Secretary to the Boers’ Committee of independence) agitated the residents in the Transvaal, but Sir Garnet Wolseley is firmly maintaining the Imperial policy. The Supreme Court bolds that the act of annexation did away with the Volksriiiid and the President of the Transvaal Bepnblie, making the people subject to Imperial authority. It is expected the country will soon be occupied by prospectors for gold and precious stones. A Legislature for the Transvaal is about to be created. The Executive Council will consist of five official and three non-official members. The Legislative Council will consist of an Executive Chief Justice, and six non-official members.
The Beaufort Railway, extending 300 miles from Cape Town'in the direction of the diamond iields, was opened on Feb. 4.
