COMMERCIAL.

Times Office, Saturday evening. Messrs Collins and Co. report holding their regular market sale by auction on Saturday. The attendance was good, and buyers were found for every item submitted at the following figures Farmers flour, £lO 10s per ton ; barley for fowl corn, 5s per sack; kidney potatoes, 90s per ton, difficult to move at that rate; local made cheese, Cd per lb; fowls, 2s (id to Bs 6d per pair; geese, 3s (kl to 4s 6d each ; ducks, 3s to 5s per pair ; oats, 50 bags at Is 9d, 50 do at Is lOd. Messrs Maclean and Stewart report as follows: — Horses —At Saturday’s sale 45 draught and hack horses were entered, a very large proportion of them being heavy draught stock, and these were nearly all placed at a considerable advance in price. We quote good heavy draughts from £4O to £SO, and for medium £2B to £BS ; hacks, from £l2 to £l6.

Cattle —Fat cattle are selling at prices equal to 20s per lOOlbs. Slieep—There is a considerable , demand for good stores, but few offering of the right sort. We quote crossbred wethers at 6s fid ; merino wethers, 4s. Wool —This article has advanced in price since our last sale fully per lb, and at our sale on Jan. 23 the following prices were obtained: —Good crossbred and merino 6Jd to 7|d per lb. Almost 1000 skins and pelts were also quitted, at prices ranging, for well-woolcd, from 3s 9d to 4s Id; pelts, at Id to s£d. Messrs Jonas, Hart and Wildie report a slight improvement in business during the past week. Cattle are plentiful, rates ruling still low. We have sold on account of John Grigg, Esq., 20 head prime beasts at from £6 10s to £B, showing an average of £7 10s per head, equal to quite 22s per lOOlbs. Horses. An average number of all classes were entered, and, with two exceptions, the whole were sold. Good heavy farm sorts brought from £3O to £45 ; light do, £lB to £2B ; hacks and light harness horses, from £8 to £l6. Properties.—We sold sections Nos, 2 and 3 at Wai-iti, for £32.
