IN pursuance of “ The Municipal Corporations Act, 187(5,” I hereby give notice that the votes recorded at the Poll of the Burgesses of the Borough of Timaru, held on the 22nd day January, 1880, at the Town Hall, Timaru, on the proposal of the Council of the said Borough, to raise the sum of £60,000 by way of Special Loan for the purpose of constructing Waterworks for supplying the said Borough with water, and doing all acts or things necessary for or incidental to carrying out that purpose, such sum to be secured upon the Waterworks, and the interest upon a Special Rate of One Shilling in the Pound sterling upon'the rateable value of all rateable property within the said Borough, and a Water Rate authorised to be made under the provisions of “ The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,” were as follows For the proposal .. 803 votes Against the proposal.. 61 votes The number of votes given for the proposal exceeding the number given against it by more than onc-iifth of the latter, I hereby declare the resolution to be carried.
