Execution of the Bushrangers. Sydney, Jan. 20— The Wantabadgcry bushrangers, Scott, (dim Moon- , light, and Eogan, were executed to-day. The sentence of death was carried out privately, both the Press and the public being excluded. Scott’s confession and autobiography have been handed to Canon Eich. It is expected they may form the subject of an inquiry into the Eger ton Bank robbery, as they are said to implicate others in a conspiracy. Scott, finally denied having shot Bowen the constable, or with being concerned in the death of F. M. Bates, the actor. He wrote voluminously. Mrs Amess,* his affianced wife, attended him to th<j last, and defrayed the cost of his funeral. Aquatics. Trickett has announced his intention, to proceed to England to row Hanlon, the Canadian sculler. China and Japan. Gooktown, Jan. 20. —The Eastern mail steamer Somerset arrived from Singapore and Hong Kong with, the Torres Straits mails. Latest news from the East states that a serious cattle plague is raging around Shanghai. ? A violent shock of earthquake has been experienced at Yokohama, and a number of buildings have been destroyed or injured.
