The Presbyterian church hero has boon without a regular minister for a long time, and the sendees have had to he conducted by ministers sent by the Presbytery. Eventually the b’ev Mr Cordon, after preaching _ twice, was elected minister, and, having accepted the office, was duly inducted yesterday. The ceremony was commenced with singing an anthem, after which a sermon was preached by the IlcA r . Mr Alexander, of Pleasant Point. The Sorice in the evening in celebration of the induction, was held in the Hall, and the tables were well provided. Mr Marshall was again to lire fore as caterer. The ladies who took charge of the tables were most assiduous. After ample justice bad been done to the tea, the tables were cleared and the public admitted. There was barely standing room. The l!cv. Mr Cordon took tile chair, and delivered a brief hut appropriate address. Addressses were given by the Rev, Ceorge Harper (Temuka), Kev. F. Clinton (Temuka), Kev. Air McLennan (Otain), Kev. Mr Hallowes (Timarn), l!ev. Mr Alexander (Pleasant Point), Mr Stewart (Orari), Rev Lindsay (Waimate), and the Kev Air Cillios (Timarn). The usual votes of thanks terminated the proceedings.
