PARLIAMENTARY.
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Tuesday, Dec. 8. In reply to questions, it was intimated that if the Stamp Fees Act produced much inconvenience the Government would resort to the circulating medium in payment of fees of court; that the lease of the Auckland Islands expired*next mouth; that instructions had been given to the Crown Lands Commissioners to afford the Lincolnshire farmers’ delegates every facility for inspecting the lands of the colony.

After the delivery of the Public Works Statement, the House sat till half past three this morning, in committee, on the Property Tax Bill. A number of amendments were proposed and divisions taken but were all negatived until Mr Moss proposed an amendment to rate household property according to the value it would realise at auction, which vas carried. Another amendment, proposed by Mr Swanson, to exempt shipbuilding plant was also carried. The Governor was empowered by order in Council to suspend the operation of the Laud Tax Act. Major Atkinson promised before the third reading to state the amount of tax proposed to be imposed.
