SUICIDAL MANIA.
A second desperate attempt at suicide was made, in the hospital this morning, by the woman Laird, who cut her throat with a knife yesterday. Since her arrival at the institution the unfortunate woman has had a succession of violent paroxysms, and during one of these, she repeated her efforts at selfdestruction by tearing the wound open. She has had to be watched closely, and in consequence of the representations made to the authorities, it is probable that she will be conveyed to the Sunnyside Asylum today, Dr Hogg having reported that she is strong enough to undergo the fatigue of the j ourney.
