CAPE NEWS.
It is reported from Zululand that one or more chiefs desire to place themselves and their territory under the direction of John Dunn. It is feared if this idea extends, and as some chiefs desire to shuffle off their responsibilities on others, difficulties may arise, as Dunn would be a more cruel man than Celewayo. His people dislike him on that account. He is said to have commenced his reign by ordering the execution of two meu who had spoken ill of him
John Dunn has announced that traders entering his territory must pay a license fee of L2o. On the subject of missionaries returning to Zululand, Mr Dunn remarks that he will not prohibit mission work, but will place missions on a firmer and more useful footing than most mission stations have hitherto been.
