Zululand lias been divided into 13 districts, with, a chief over each—all subject to the British Eesident. Oham, Cetewayo’s brother, who surrendered at an early stage of the war, has been rewarded with the chieftainship of a large district in the north. Cetewayo states that but for the gallant defence at llorke’s Drift, the Zulus would have overwhelmed Natal. He has sent a letter tp the Queen asking forgives,
One of Sir Garnet Wolseley’s first acts after being sworn as Governor of the Transvaal, was to proclaim in tho Gazette the fixed intention of the Imperial Government to abide by the annexation. He is supported by three regiments of infantry, and three squadrons of dragoons and artillery.
