(“times” special wire.) Wellington, Nov. 5. At the inquest on Joseph Sales the evidence showed that dcatli resulted from an overdose of chloral, and a verdict was returned in accordance therewith, with a rider added condemning the reckless manner in which chloral is handled and dealt out, and urging theGovernraent to place some restriction upon the trade to prevent such occurrences. After a long discussion the debate on the Maori Representation Bill was adjourned for a week. The Triennial Parliament Bill was committed, and Mr Murray moved the word “ Triennial” be struck out, in whatever part of the Bill it occurred, substituting that of Quadrienuiai. This was lost on the voices. Upon Clause 3, Mr Shepherd moved that the present Parliament be disolved. The amendment caused a loud discussion and a motion that progress be reported, having been defeated, Mr J. T. Pi slier proposed that “1883” be struck out substituting 1883. The House divided on the question that the fiurcs proposed be omitted, and stand part of the question, the result being—Ayes, 26. Noes, 21. The figures 1882 were substituted. ' Other amendments in order to be considered on Friday. The House adjourned at 11.20. Wm. Robert Christie, an elderly respectable looking, and apparently educated man, was charged to-day with vagrancy. It appeared ho has been sleeping in the bush of the Botanical Gardens during the last six or seven weeks, and had been without money or employment. He was remanded for a week.
