NEW ZEALAND. Messrs Maclean Brothers of Dunedin report, for the week ending 29th October, as follows: — PAT CATTI* I ®' A supply of 214 head was yarded to-day, of which the greater number were of prime duality, the balance being from little better than stores to medium. For first quality the donanfl was active aad about last weeks rates were obtained viz., from 27s 6d to 30s ; ordinary to inferior, however, were very alow of sale, and prices for these deecriptions receded about 2s 6d per Bullocks fetched from £8 2s 6u to £l2 17a 6d ; cows and heifers, from £5 to £9 7s 6d. Privately and at auction we placed 55 head at quotations. fat sheep. 2593 were penned to day, and prices again had a downward tendency. The market, however, was cleared, cross-bred in wool fetching from lls to 13s 9d ; shorn do. from 8s to lls 3d according to weight and quality; in wool. We quote mutton in wool at 2-Jd per lb : do shorn, l|d. At the yards, we sold on account of Messrs Bruce, Dickson, Gray, and others, a draft of 830 at quotations. FAT LAMBS. 433 were penned, nearly all of which were cood quality, and sold at from 9a to lls. We sold 95 on account of Messrs Grey, Dickson and others. STORE CATTLE. An active demand is now springing np for bullocks in forward condition, hut few of this description are offering. We held a sale at Outram on the 28th inst., when 120 head were disposed of. Prime bullocks, at £6 5s per head ; cows, in low condition, £3 2s 6d to £4 ; mixed young stock at 26s to 455. STORE SHEEP. No transactions to report. Merinos are inquired for, and considerable numbers of these will be offered from the North—thus fat however vendors have not named prices and no reliable market quotations can he given. WOOL, Tne San Francisco mail to hand on 25th inst,, brought us account sales of wool sold up tollth Sept, which show fair results as regards fine merinos, but the fall in price of cross breds, as tel' graphed ia fully con. firmed— the account sales showing results to shippers of that class of as very unsatisfactory indeed. The following cablegram as to the present, prospect of the wool market has been rec ived which points to BQ improvement in the price at the approaching November sales: London, 23rd October, 1879—A rise of Id in wool is expected owing to the heavy demand for America. An advance is expected at the opening of the wool sales. SHEEPSKINS. At out weekly sale on Monday last w© had a good attendancee of buyers, and all the lots catalogued were di-poaed of at about last week’s prices. Butchers skins brought uo to 3a 6d for merinos, and up to 3s 4d for cross-breds. HIDES. There ia ho improvement in demand. We have idac-d during the week all the lots on hand at 2Jd per lb. for wet salted, aud IGa for green hides, l TALLOW. Tallow has been inquired for but we have uo transactions to report. From advices received from the Home market, however, we expect the demand to improve. CHAIN. Wheat is in Mr demand at about last weeks quotations, viz., for the first-class milling, 6s ; ordinary, 4s 6d to 4s 9 i ; fowls’ feed, of wlTch we have placed several lines dm ing the week, 3s 61 and 3s 9d. Oats—Since our last report, prices have given way to the extent of Id per bushel, and during the week they have been operated on freely for shipment. Ihe quotations now are lls Id to 2a for feed, and 2s Id to 2s 2d for milling. We have have placed 1500 bags at quotations. Barlev is in very limited supply, but the demand is very slight. Prime maltxng is worth 5a 3d 5 ordinary, 4g 9d to 6s,
