New groomers for Turoa
Turoa Ski Resort has two new Kassbohrer PB330D snow grooming machines in time for the 1997 winter season. These additional machines will ensure reliability of Turoa's grooming fleet. They will join Turoa's existing fleet of Kassbohrer PB270D's. "These state of the art snow groomers with their increased horsepower, will ensure Turoa has the ability to groom the trails consistently. The Kassbohrer PB330D is one of the largest and most modern snow groomers available in the world," said Mike Bayens, mountain operations manager. Both additional Kassbohrer machines are equipped with flexible-tillers which allow the snow to be groomed following the contours of the slopes, providing a superbly smooth surface for skiers and snowboarders. The flexible tiller can also leave the slopes with interesting bumps and rolls providing fun and challenging terrain for skiers and snowboarders. Other Innovations in the machines enable them to groom soft snow more easily, which will allow for near-perfect grooming after storms and through spring. Mr Bayens also says the PB330's are suited to the Turoa environment due to their horsepower and size which improves their capacity to push snow for trail maintenance and for clearing snowdrifts around lifts.
