More money for Ohakune sewer
Council approved the spending of an additional $90,000 for upgrading the Ohakune sewer reticulation in their budget for 1997/98 A sum of $150,000 had been included in the 1995/96 annual plan but now that a detailed estimate has been prepared the final cost is expected to be $240,000 for what is considered to be essential work in the light of recent problems associated with the development of sub-divisions in some areas of Ohakune. This has resulted in some parts of the sewer reticulation becoming overloaded, particularly after heavy rain when stormwater has infiltrated the sewer system resulting in some instances of overflows within private properties.
