• Over the weekend of 21-22 June someone blew up the rubbish bin at the 9km mark on the mountain road. Police say this type of vandalism is extremely dangerous and suggests someone is making homemade bombs. • A juvenile has been reported to Youth Aid after committing two burglaries and a theft in the Horopito area. • A burglary of an address in Ward Street, Raetihi was reported. • A Toyota Landcruiser parked at the back of the Ohakune Hotel had two of its windows stolen (yes, stolen!) and some clothing, tools and Husqvarna chainsaw stolen from it last Tuesday night. On Friday evening a white Honda Accord parked in Rimu Street was broken into and a bag containing clothing, a sleeping bag, cheque book and credit cards stolen. On Saturday night a white Honda Civic was broken into outside the Ruapehu Hotel and the stereo and a black satchel were stolen from it. • On Wednesday evening a fire was lit beside the railway tracks at Rangataua. This was extinguished before any damage was caused. • A Husqvarna chainsaw was reported stolen from a shed in Tay Street on Friday evening. • At 3.30am on Saturday morning there was a hit and run crash in Rimu Street. Two persons were sitting in a Holden Commodore which was parked when it was hit by a vehiele described as a Ford Escort in rough condition. The Escort sped off without stopping. No one was injured. • The property officer currently has a gold link bracelet
found early this month on a track near the bottom of the mountain in Ohakune. Anyone believing this to be theirs should contact the property officer and provide a better description.
