After an exciting start to the season with con vincing wins by both the senior and B teams, the Waiouru Rugby Club has been hard pressed to maintain the same form in subsequent games. "The teams are playing reasonable football but are unable to do so consistently," said coach Ken Morton. Both teams are coached by Ken Morton, Shaun Thomas and Danny Turnbull. Playing against the Wanganui Pirates in their last home games of the season, the Waiouru Rugby Club senior and B teams showed some good form during the matches but neither were able to sustain the effort required for a win. "The score doesn't reflect the evenness of the teams
but is more indicative of Waiouru 's mistakes while on attack which lost them the ball," said Mr Morton. Drawing players from the Waiouru area means that the club has to deal with more problems than the regular clubs. Apart from player injuries, difficulties related to work commitments and courses are a major factor in having players consistently available for practices and games. This tends to result in some players choosing to move to other clubs which can offer more consistent rugby. Both teams have two games to.go before the play-offs of the Wanganui competition. Mr Morton commented that the seniors will probably have one more game after that while the B team, which is fourth or fifth in the competition, will have a few more.
