Those applying will be expected to have firsthand experience of the voluntary welfare sector, a broad interest in welfare issues at both the regional and national levels, as well as an understanding of the principles of community development. The sub-committee meets about five times a year, usually in Rotorua and is chaired by a member of the national Lottery Welfare committee. Members are reimbursed for travelling expenses and receive a small meeting fee.
