Volleyball

There has been a noticeable improvement in the standard, of play by all the teams since volleyball started several seeks ago and this has resulted in more enjoyable games for competitors and spectators alike. The Ruapehu College Girls B team took on Winpulp and had won the first set before the boys warmed up. However, Winpulp weren't going to take that lying down and came back to win the next two sets. The College Girls A team played Just Us in the second game and lifted themselves to win the first two sets with Just Us coming back to take the last set 15-10. Game three saw Buckskin and Dreamers in a relatively even contest which Dreamer won two sets to nil with Buckskin making too many mistakes at the net. Tomb Raiders and Try Hards also had a close fought game with Try Hards remaining unbeaten winning two sets to one. The last game of the evening had Telecom playing McCarthys who, after defaulting previously, with three

players had a whole truck full of players last night. However, this may have been to their disadvantage as their combinations kept changing and they couldn't get into a rhythm and so Telecom won 2-0. Sunday 29 June is the last night of the current round and anyone interested in putting a team in for next term is welcome to come along and check out the competition.
